A guide to Open Access at the University of Huddersfield

American Chemical Society (ACS)

Please note that this agreement will expire at the end of 2024 and negotiations for 2025 are still in progress.

Eligibility for an APC under this agreement is based on acceptance date, so at this time we would advise not submitting any articles to ACS.

If you have any questions please email openaccess@hud.ac.uk

The 2022-24 Transitional Agreement with the American Chemical Society will enable corresponding authors affiliated to the University of Huddersfield to publish their research in any of the ACS titles. This unlimited Read and Publish agreement includes publishing in all hybrid and fully OA titles.

To be eligible under this agreement articles must have an acceptance date between 1.1.2022 - 31.12.2024 and meet the following Author, Journal and Article type criteria.

Eligible Authors

To be eligible, the corresponding author must be:

  • Identified as the individual who is to communicate with ACS throughout the peer review process.
  • a current student registered with the University of Huddersfield (including undergraduates and postgraduates); an individual contractor of the Institution; or a member of staff (whether permanent or temporary, including any teacher who teaches students registered with the Institution)

The corresponding author must be responsible for managing the publication process of an article, from submission to post-acceptance, and must be the one who corresponds with the Publisher.

To help with the approval process authors should use their University of Huddersfield email address and ensure they select the correct affiliation from the drop-down search during the submission process

Please note: papers with corresponding authors who are honorary, visiting or NHS members of staff without a contract of employment will not normally be eligible to use this agreement.

Eligible Journals
