There are various resources to find audio and video material via the University Library.

You can these the search box below to find DVDs, CDs and selected streaming audio via Library Search. Our physical DVD collection is on Floor 2 in the rolling shelves and there are music CDs on Floor 5 in the Music Library.

Box of Broadcasts

Box of Broadcasts (also known as BoB) is an archive of free-to-air TV and radio programmes available to you through the University of Huddersfield Library subscription.  You can choose to watch previously recorded programmes, request future programmes and save lists of programmes for your learning, teaching or research.

Click on this link to go direct to BoB. You can also access it from the A-Z list of electronic resources, and find BoB under the letter B.

You will be prompted to log in with your University login and password. The first time you access BoB, it will ask you to register your university email address (undergraduates and postgraduate taught students = u1234567@unimail.hud.ac.uk). You will need to confirm your address by checking your email and clicking on the link provided.

Other online video/ audio

  • YouTube channel: the most well-known search engine for videos. Good for interviews with practitioners, writers, performers, musicians, directors as well as rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Vimeo: platform for film-makers, designers and artists to display their work.
  • UbuWeb: independent resource dedicated to all strains of the avant-garde, ethnopoetics, and outsider arts. (not just videos, includes poetry, journalism and creative writing)

Podcasts / radio shows

  • Auralia.Space: outcome of the research project Aural/Oral Dramaturgies: Post-Verbatim, Amplified Storytelling and Gig Theatre in the Digital Age. The original podcast, Lend Me Your Ears, has grown from a 12-episode series to a multi-faceted collection of resources.
  • Front Row - a BBC Radio 4 magazine programme that discusses current arts, literature, film, media and music.
  • TheatreVoice: Interviews and journalism about British Theatre.
