British Standards Online

BSI have implemented Digital Rights Management across its documents.

Your access to view standards remains unaffected but to download and print documents, you are now required to download the FileOpen plug-in.

For more information: click here

If you encounter any issues opening the standard, please try opening from your Downloads folder, by right-clicking and selecting "Open with Adobe Acrobat Reader".

Clinicalskills.net

Please note. Clinicalskills.net isn't a library managed resource so we are very limited in the help we are able to provide.

The following steps will show you how to create an account but if you are still unable to log in it's best to contact the Clinicalskills.net support team so they can identify if there are any issues with your account.

Firstly, try the following direct link: https://hud.app.clinicalskills.net/open_id_login?organisation_id=259

If that doesn't work please open a private/incognito tab in your browser and follow the steps below:

Step 1: Start at ClinicalSkills.net, click 'Log in to My Account'.

Step 2: Select ‘Click here for institutional access’.

Step 3: In the search box, start typing ‘Huddersfield’ and select 'University of Huddersfield'.
nb. NOT University of Huddersfield Library

Step 4: Once again, select ‘Click here for institutional access’.

Step 5: Click 'single sign-on for students & staff' and log in with your University username and password.

Step 6: New users will reach a registration page where they may complete a personal registration for ClinicalSkills.net.

Construction Information Service

Before you can access this resource, you will need to create a new account using your University email address.

If you've successfully created an account and logged into the resource previously then please try the following steps:

If that still doesn’t work, we would need CIS support to investigate.

Please email: support@accuris.co with the affected University email address and let them know you are unable to log in.

OVID Journals

Please note that this platform only allows a limited number of users to access journals at the same time.

The following journals can be accessed on the Ovid platform:

If you encounter the error messages: ‘Cannot get full text’ or ‘Licence Service Failure’, please try to access the journal article again after a short time.

eBook Central

To download books for offline access, you will firstly need Adobe Digital Editions

Mendeley

There are currently problems affecting Mendeley Reference Manager with some users seeing a ‘Web Login Service – Stale Request’ error message. Elsevier/Mendeley support are aware of this ongoing issue, and are currently investigating the problem. We do not have an institutional subscription to Mendeley, so we're limited in the support we can provide but below are some suggestions if you encounter an error.

1. Try Using Mendeley Web Version:

  • Open an Incognito/InPrivate window in your web browser.
  • Go to the Mendeley website homepage and select ‘Sign In’.
  • Sign in using your individual Mendeley account (email and password).

2. Alternative Web Version Sign-In:

  • Select ‘Sign in via your organization’.
  • Search for and select ‘University of Huddersfield Library’.
  • Enter your university email, password, and multi-factor authentication (if prompted).

3. Fixing the Desktop Version:

  • Open the Mendeley desktop app.
  • Select ‘Reset Mendeley’ from the help menu or uninstall and reinstall the app.
  • Sign in using your individual Mendeley account.

4. General Tips:

  • Avoid using the ‘Sign in via your organization’ option if you encounter the ‘Stale Request’ error.
  • Ensure you use the email associated with your existing Mendeley account to access your library.

Scopus

Some issues have been reported where users have had trouble accessing Scopus. The problem appears to be affecting those with a personal Elsevier account and on occasion their account isn't recognised as they switch between different Elsevier products such as Knovel, ScienceDirect, and Scopus.

Example Error messages:

  • Something went wrong and caused an error (code 404)
  • Sorry. There is a problem with your account, please contact your administrator or helpdesk.
  • Sorry. Something isn’t working. If there’s still a problem, please contact your administrator or helpdesk.

Solutions:

Next step:

If the above solutions don’t work Elsevier have advised that individuals should contact the relevant support team so they can check account details:

Westlaw

The first time you access Westlaw you may encounter a ‘First time registration’ form. The form asks you to complete your name and email address to authenticate you into Westlaw but this is optional – if you prefer, you may enter text which does not identify you.

Sometimes when you are directed to Westlaw from your reading list, or your browser has been idle for some time, you may come across a different Westlaw UK / One Pass login page. If this happens, scroll down and click on ‘Access through Open Athens’ and search for the ‘University of Huddersfield’.

If you see the following error: “Your profile contains no valid registration keys”, please click here to submit a ticket using your University email address and ask for your account to be reactivated. If required, our account number is: 1003565357.

If you have any other questions, please email: library.periodicals@hud.ac.uk.

WGSN

Your account will be deactivated if you do not log in for 90 days. You may reactivate your account by logging in on campus or by logging in from this login page off campus.

After reactivating, please use this direct link to the login page to access your WGSN account.

A personal account is needed if you wish to download content from WGSN. It is not necessary to create a personal account if you are just searching or reading online.

If you click on the download icon for an article and encounter the following message, please create a new account.

Creation of a new account can only be done while on campus or via this link using your University email address: https://www-wgsn-com.libaccess.hud.ac.uk/accounts/edu/new_user

The personal account will expire after 90 days of not being used but can be reactivated.

WGSN Fashion recently implemented a Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) requirement for users attempting to use their “Download” functionality.

Unfortunately, if you've accessed WGSN via a library webpage the two-factor authentication link is likely to fail and an access code will not be sent to your mobile device.

Instead you will need to go direct to www.wgsn.com and attempt to sign in.

For any other issues it's best to contact WGSN directly via their help page so they can check the status of your account.
