Wellbeing in the Library: Spaces in the Library for wellbeing

A guide for students and staff at the University of Huddersfield to help them find places, resources and information which will support their wellbeing.

Find your ideal space

We have a variety of different spaces in the library to suit everyone. If you like to study with friends, bookable group study rooms are available; if you're feeling more in need of peace and quiet, try one of our silent study areas. Find more details on the different types of space available and how to access them below.

Calm Zone

The Calm Zone is on floor 5 of the Library, beside the Silent Study area. It's designed to be a space where people can get away from their computer and academic reading, so you won't find any work stations there, but you will find some leisure reading from our HudReads collection, along with our "Procrastination Station" which includes colouring pencils and sheets, paper for drawing and puzzles.

Scholars' Rest

If you're in need of some rest and refreshment and maybe a place to chat, Scholars' Rest is the place to go. It's equipped with comfy seating, a few computers, vending machines for snacks and drinks, a microwave and a hot water boiler for making your own drinks. It's accessible from the Music Library on Floor 5. You will see signs directing you to the entrance to Scholars' Rest which is on the right hand side of the Music Library as you walk in.
