Our Informed Researcher sessions are designed to help you build on your skills, knowledge, ability and techniques to do research at post-graduate level. The sessions also provide you with a foundation in collaborative skills. The majority of sessions are held online via Teams but some are held in person on campus in the Library. Sessions run throughout the year and should be booked via SkillsForge. If you cannot find a date for the session you are interested in please email library@hud.ac.uk with your enquiry.

Referencing and citing
This session aims to familiarise participants with the importance of avoiding plagiarism and bad academic practice and demonstrating academic integrity, through an understanding of referencing and citing.
The topics covered include:
NB the examples given in this session will be in the APA 7th format which is the University's preferred referencing style.
Using EndNote to organise your references
This session aims to introduce participants to EndNote reference management software and how it integrates with Microsoft Word to store and manage references and create reference lists.

NB This session runs both in-person and online via Teams. If you attend the online Teams session you will be expected to download EndNote to your laptop and have done some preliminary work on creating and building your EndNote library with the help of a self-guided workbook.
Keeping your research up to date
This session aims to introduce researchers to the benefits of different tools you can use to keep up to date with new research in your area.

Managing your digital academic profile
This session aims to inform and demonstrate to participants the importance of having a consistent, professional digital profile as a researcher.

Introduction to Archives and Archival Research
This session aims to introduce participants to archives as research resources using the University of Huddersfield's Archives and Special Collections held at Heritage Quay as a starting point.
Topics covered include:
