Research support: Referencing

Getting started

scrabble letters image The University's official referencing style is APA 7th. Some departments may use varying rules, so please check your module handbook. Postgraduate researchers (MA by Research and PGR) are able to discuss and select their preferred referencing style with supervisors.

We recommend you view the referencing guidance on our website. We have examples of how to format references and citations using APA 7th style.

We have an Informed Researcher session on Referencing and Citing. See the end page for details on how to book. You can also email library@hud.ac.uk to ask questions or book an appointment with a librarian.

The University provides support for EndNote, RefWorks and Mendeley.

Please see our guide to reference management software for further information.

Your librarians also offer a range of Informed Researcher training sessions for researchers on reference management software, please see Skillsforge for details of upcoming sessions.
